Dear Parents,
As a parent of a child or children who resides in the North Channel Minor Hockey catchment we, the North Channel Minor Hockey Association Board of Directors, would like to inform you of the changes coming for the 2019 – 2020 hockey season.
The North Channel Minor Hockey Association takes pride in providing our small communities a place for our children to play hockey. We provide skilled coaches, a competitive playing level and loads of fun for our players. By supporting sports in your community, you are also supporting local arenas and part time employment for young adults (time keeping opportunities, hockey officials, arena canteens).
For the up and coming 2019-2020 season the NCMHA is joining up with the Thessalon Minor Hockey League, the Blind River Minor Hockey League and Elliot Lake Minor Hockey League to form the new Central Algoma Hockey League (CAHL). Games will be held in the above communities on Saturdays at one arena, meaning all division games will be played throughout the day at the given arena. Games will rotate, giving each division home games. Practices will be held at the Desbarats arena during the evening on week days.
In order to keep the NCMHA a viable hockey association for everyone to enjoy, releases to the Soo Pee Wee Hockey League will not be given for House League level hockey. Permission to skate releases will be given for any player wishing to try out for A or above. If the level stated on the permission to skate is not achieved the player will return to the NCMHA. The North Channel Minor Hockey Association is supported by the Northern Ontario Hockey Association in this endeavor. In the event the NCMHA is not able to ice a certain division due to lack of players a release will be given.
Our Bantam and Midget teams will remain under the Sault Major umbrella. Releases will be given under the same condition as stated above.

Our AGM is April 11th at 7:00 upstairs at the Desbarats arena. Please plan to attend.
